What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies — such as localStorage and tracking pixels — work in comparable ways. We refer to all of these as “cookies” in this policy.

How we use cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to operate the website — for example, to keep you signed in to the customer portal, to secure form submissions, and to process payments via Stripe. These cookies are always active because the site cannot work without them.

With your consent, we also use analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4, measurement ID G-2MVV8P2N7R) to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it, and advertising cookies (Google Ads) to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and to attribute enquiries and purchases to ad clicks.

No Google Analytics or Google Ads tags load before you give consent. Non-essential cookies — including _ga, _gid, _gcl_aw, _gcl_au and similar — are hard-blocked before consent is given.

Your choices

When you first visit, we display a consent banner before setting any non-essential cookies. The banner gives you three controls:

  • Accept all — enables both analytics cookies (Google Analytics) and advertising cookies (Google Ads).
  • Reject non-essential — disables all analytics and advertising cookies. This option is as prominent as “Accept all”. Strictly necessary cookies remain active.
  • Cookie preferences — opens the preferences panel so you can enable or disable analytics and advertising categories separately.

Your choice is stored so the banner does not ask again on subsequent visits. Consent is versioned — if we make material changes to how we use cookies, we will ask for fresh consent.

Cookie categories

We group cookies into four categories:

  • Necessary — required for the website to function. Always active; no consent required.
  • Analytics — used to measure how visitors use the site. Only set with your consent.
  • Advertising — used to attribute enquiries and purchases to ad clicks, and to measure advertising effectiveness. Only set with your consent.
  • Preferences — stores your cookie consent choice so we do not ask on every visit.

Cookie names and durations will be verified in browser DevTools after implementation and this table updated accordingly.

Withdrawing or changing consent

You can withdraw or change your consent at any time. The Cookie preferences link in the website footer opens the consent manager, where you can update your choices. Your revised preferences take effect immediately — analytics and advertising tags are stopped or started accordingly.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you see what cookies are stored, delete them individually, block third-party cookies, or block cookies from specific sites. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the site — such as sign-in and checkout — from working correctly.

Our use of Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies is described in our Privacy Policy. Google's own privacy and cookie notices govern how Google uses data collected through those cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our use of cookies changes. The version number and last updated date shown at the top of this page reflect the current version. Where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention and, where legally required, seek fresh consent.

For questions about our use of cookies, contact FM Structural, 14 Castle Lane, S44 6PS, or info@fmstructural.co.uk.
